HarborMaster Mark II
HarborMaster Mark IIThe Marine Link to the Wireless World

The HarborMaster™ Mark II is the newest and most advanced wireless remote monitoring and security system designed specifically for the marine environment. It monitors the vital signs of unattended boats on moorings, at marina docks or in storage, ensuring owners that their boat is safe and secure at all times. The HarborMaster operates on Aeris.net's MicroBurst® Network, a cost effective wireless network, which means no additional telephone or cell phone connection is required. In the event of an alarm, owners are notified by a page, e-mail or telephone call. With full web integration, HarborMaster subscribers can retrieve detailed statistics on their boat on a daily or weekly basis, or any time they request them. See how it works.

“Smart Sensors” For Total Protection

The HarborMaster’s 12 “Smart Sensors” monitor specified on-board conditions, vital boat systems, record monthly statistics, and provide protection against intrusion and unauthorized use. In the event of boat theft, a GPS interface allows the HarborMaster to transmit the vessel’s exact location.

The conditions monitored by the HarborMaster are:

High Water
Primary battery
Secondary battery
Loss of AC or shore power
Burglar Zone 1
Burglar Zone 2
Primary bilge pump
Secondary bilge pump
Fire
Ignition on
Low internal battery
Auxiliary -- your choice of any closed loop sensor to monitor conditions such as bilge pump fuse; boat adrift, etc.

Detailed Statistical Reporting

Web integration ensures that boat owners have access to detailed statistics on their boat's performance. Statistics are compiled that can be accessed onboard from the HarborMaster's display screen, or remotely via harborstore.com from anywhere in the world. The statistics report tells the owner:

Statistic Why Important
Bilge Pump
Number of times the bilge pump turns on
The pumping time duration
The five-day moving average for cycle duration
Provides the owner with an early warning of potential problems
Owner can determine unusual activity
AC
The number of times and duration of AC shore power outages.
This is an important parameter to monitor for boats with trickle chargers, standing lights, freezers, etc.
Ignition
The number of times the ignition was activated and the number of engine hours utilized.
Important for monitoring unauthorized use.
Provides the owner with information about the need for additional fuel or scheduled maintenance.
Keyless entry
The identity of each key fob and the number of times it is used.
This provides a record of who uses the boat and provides a usage record for insurance policy purposes.
Battery
The current voltage of up to two batteries.
Ensures you have plenty of power when you need it.
GPS Interface
The GPS longitude and latitude when the boat’s external GPS is powered on.
This feature allows for real time tracking of the vessel in the event it is adrift or stolen.
Password Protection
The number of times the programming password has been used.
This allows an owner to determine if the marina or alarm response company has been following a contracted monitoring schedule.
Signal Strength/#of calls
The current signal strength, the number of communications failures since the last report and the number of calls made in the current period.
A useful statistic for verifying billing details.

Immediate Alarm Notification

New technology enables the HarborMaster to use Aeris.net's MicroBurst® Network, a cellular network with coverage across North and South America, that will transmit alarm signals directly to vessel owners notifying them of dangerous or potentially dangerous situations on their boats.

Alarm signals will be sent in situations such as:

  • Highwater
• Low Battery 1
• Low Battery 2
• AC
• Burglary 1
• Burglary 2
• Fire
• AUX monitors conditions of owner's choice (bilge pump fuse test; boat adrift; carbon monoxide; gasoline and explosive vapors)
• Unusual Bilge Pump 1 activity
• Unusual Bilge Pump 2 activity
• HarborMaster Low Battery

A cellular radio, built into the Harbormaster system, transmits alarm signals to a central computer site which relays alarms by pager, e-mail or synthesized voice to the boat owner and/or a designated marina, at which point immediate assistance can be dispatched at the owner’s discretion. See how it works.

Whoever you designate to check your boat is responsible for clearing the alarm on the HarborMaster. You will then be notified immediately that the alarm has been cleared on your unit.

State-of-the-art components

The HarborMaster is tolerant of salt water, humidity, vibration and electrical noise. The system includes:

1. An alarm panel linked to closed loop sensors in strategic areas of the boat;
2. A cellular radio to transmit alarm signals and operational data to a central computer site;
3. The computer site which relays alarms by pager, e-mail or synthesized voice to the boat owner or designated personnel and relays statistics to a website for remote retrieval;
4. A website for Internet statistics retrieval by the boat owner;
5. An electronic keyless entry system; and
6. Remote sensors.

Peace of Mind All the Time

The HarborMaster also serves as the master control of the boat while people are onboard. It can monitor all of the same vital components as when in away mode, such as high water, low boat battery, fire, intrusion, in addition to carbon monoxide and explosive vapors. The HarborMaster coordinates alarms from sensors of the owner’s choice and an audible alarm alert is sounded when there is a potential problem.

Special Features of the HarborMaster

2-Way Remote Control Commands

With the HarborMaster's two-way remote control commands you can get information on demand or activate your on-board systems remotely. Request statistics reports at any time, change the HarborMaster's mode of operation, request your vessel's GPS location or even turn on your air conditioning from anywhere, on your own password-protected web page on this website.

Power Efficiency

HarborMaster has a power management system that lets it operate for six months to one year on six replaceable C-Cells when the boat is unattended. This ensures that the boat’s batteries are available for critical systems such as bilge pumps and engine starting when the owner returns. The boat owner has the option of using the boat battery to power the HarborMaster when onboard.

GPS Interface

A GPS interface enables the HarborMaster to report GPS boat location in the event of boat theft and boat adrift.

Interactive display screen and keypad

The HarborMaster's interactive display screen and keypad allows for ease of use and programming.

Dynamic Parameter Settings

The HarborMaster's pre-set parameters for bilge pump unusual activity, boat battery voltage, AC shore power outage and others can easily be changed to accommodate the needs of each boater's vessel.

About the Aeris MicroBurst® Network

How MicroBurst Works

MicroBurst® technology is a patented utility that enables short data packets to be transmitted over control channels in cellular networks using standard IS-41C signaling mechanisms. These short data packets are transmitted by cellular devices and routed to the Aeris central hub facility over existing SS7 (Signaling System 7) networks. The Aeris hub identifies the service provider and routes the data for delivery via a back-end link, which includes Internet, dial-up and dedicated connectivity. The end-user is notified of activity via cell phone, pager, Web page or e-mail.

Aeris.net, headquartered in San Jose, California, develops and implements technologies that enable the wireless connectivity and control of remote intelligent devices. Aeris currently has contracts to deploy MicroBurst technology in over 97 percent of cellular service areas in the United States and 100 percent of Canada. See coverage.
